Marbleized Stains technique

I used a piece of cream card stock to soppy up all the stains I had on my craft sheet when playing "Marbleized Stains Technique" one day. It wasn't until I ink embossed it that I actually liked it... it was too soft in color for my grungy tastes... but this little tag that almost wasn't, made a butterfly transformation and I thought the colors would be great for a baby card. So I faux patina d a little charm and voila... here is the card...

Creative Chemistry FB Group Challenge -- Anything Goes!!

I made this #10 Business Envelop Tag Book as a Brag Book fro my Son-In-Law for Father's Day this year. I made it right after we completed CC101 cuz i wanted to play around with all the techniques we learned in class.  I just grabbed my scrap stash, tried to find matching colors, and it they didn't, I just used Distress Ink Pads to add the colors I wanted. I devoted certain pages to each grandchild and the last 2 are for  my daughter and SiL, but since they are tags, they can be arranged anyway that tickles their fancy...

Creative Chemistry FB Group Challenge -- Anything Goes!!

I made this ClearSnap Purse using DCWV "Once Upon a Time" paper pak, Distress inks, Liquid Pearls Dimensional Paint  and misc embellishments.

Compendium of Curiosity 2, Challenge 2

This week's challenge comes from page 58 of Tim Holtz's book, Compendium of Curiosity 2. Although I did not have all the required supplies, I did visit 3 stores to find the SnowCap mixative. But, as my luck would have it, none of the stores in my area or surrounding area had it. Drats, I so wanted to complete this technique!!!

Undaunted, I improvised using the background info gleamed from attending Tim's On-Line Course, Creative Chemistry 101!!! Since I learned about the differences in inks, I pulled out a white pigment dye ink pad to use in place of SnowCap. It worked!!! Granted, I had to apply several coats to get coverage I wanted, but it worked.

While it might not qualify for the criteria in this Challenge, I am sooo glad I took Tim's CC101, else I would not have been able to improvise as I did.

Here's my tag:

I used a copper embellishment, and followed the procedures on page 58 in Tim's book.

Thank you Linda for another great Challenge. If you would like more info, please visit Linda's blog at

Embossing acrylic...

While at the CK Scrapbook Convention in Mesa, AZ, last weekend, I spoke with Jim Frase of ClearScraps.com about their amazing product. I love making books, embellishments, pages out of ClearScraps acrylic. Jim asked if I had ever embossed their acrylic and I had not. He said any of their acrylics can be embossed, except those lined in the brown paper.  He suggested leaving the protective film on, but it was not necessary.

So I brought out my Sizzix today and played around. It worked wonderfully. I used Tim Holtz A2 Medium Wing to emboss one of the butterfly's wing, also used  Sizzix Butterfly 38-9520 Embossing Folder on two more acrylic butterfliss and finished with Tim Holtz;s A2 Large Fancy Floral for the last butterfly.

I then used TH sanding block on two of the embossed butterflies for a frosted texture.

I love this technique!!!  Thanx Jim!!!
